New DOC Hired!

The board voted Hans Schneiter as Director of Coaching (DOC) at the Annual General Meeting in February. We are very excited to have him come on board in this position. Hans has worked behind the scenes for the club for 5 years and has a very deep understanding of the needs of the club from coaches to players to parents.

In the past couple of weeks Hans has met with all of the coaches and has attended several of the games and practices. I know you will find Hans very approachable and will listen to your needs and concern. Please see the letter from Hans by clicking on this link here: "Introduction Letter Hans"

As always, if you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any board member. Good luck to all teams in Spring Play!

AFC - AYSO Agreement

AFC Members,

Over the last year representatives of Albany FC have been working with the AYSO Region 870 Board of Directors to forge a working relationship that would be beneficial for both organizations and raise the overall level of soccer in the Albany area. The goal of the working relationship was to create a seamless system for developing soccer players at the level that is appropriate for each individual player. In the agreement, players in the Albany area will begin their soccer experience with AYSO in the U6-U10 ages with the support of AFC coaches. Players who show potential at these ages, and have the desire to develop at a higher level, would begin attending AYSO Progressive practices on Fridays. AFC coaches will be in attendance along with a few representative AFC players. This will give the players and parents a chance to sample the AFC experience and will help AFC coaches identify potential players who should attend our tryouts. AFC will continue to provide a competitive soccer experience for players from ages U10-U18. We have hired a Director of Coaching, Santiago Landazuri, who will be implementing a new player development model beginning with our 2013 Tryouts. We are excited for the coming year and the positive changes that are continuing to happen with our club as we transform into the top club in the Albany area! See the attached flyer and comparison chart that has been sent out to all area schools.

AFC is now a proud supporter of iSoccer.

iSoccer is a online program that allows you to evaluate and compare your skills to other people your age, or even the highest level players in the state, with extremely simple and quick exercises. iSoccer evaluates your skills with very simple numerical values, its something visual and gives players a visual goal to strive for when training.
